Back in the game

We're back to the blogging world!  As many of you know, I tried my best to document our time in Okinawa, Japan on our blog: http://franklinsinjapan.blogspot.com/ Since we are no longer there, I figured we needed a new blog name, and since I am no longer working I should continue the blog to help keep the creative juices flowing!
Living in Japan made for some great posts about unusual places and crazy things we encountered.  I'm sorry to say that will probably not be the case here in Yuma, Arizona, but I will try to keep it interesting!
Our life has changed significantly since leaving Japan at the end of May, so here is an update on our lives!
The very last day of May, we said goodbye to Japan and set out on our journey from Okinawa to Arizona.
We flew into San Francisco and drove the rest of the way so we would not have to put our crazy dogs on yet another airplane.  For the next two months we lived out of suitcases because our house on base was not yet ready for us to move into.
The majority of the time we lived in a hotel, which was not fun with two large dogs.  Fortunately we took a few trips to visit our families to help the time go by faster.
We spent two weeks in California visiting John's family and friends.  We were able to spend our fourth anniversary in San Francisco as we have two other years.
We also went to Texas to see my family and friends and were able to attend my younger brother's wedding!
Finally at the end of July, we moved into our new home!  Quite the change from our concrete home in Okinawa! (See old blog for a picture of the outside of our old house to compare!)
Of course the biggest life changing event happened on September 6th.  We welcomed our sweet little boy Ryker, into the world.
Our lives have been turned upside down by this tiny little human.  He is now six weeks old and our world revolves around him!  He is such a sweet baby.
I am sure most of this blog will be about him, but I'm sure you don't mind!
Another exciting happening for the Franklin family is John was promoted to the rank of Major!  We found out he was selected for promotion almost two years ago, so we have been ready for it to become official!
Ryker was very excited about his Major dad!
Thanks for reading!  I hope you come back to read more!
